Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Insera 3D is a custom 3D printing service operated by Insera Labs Pty Ltd (ABN 92 687 784 247) ("Insera 3D", "we", "us"), based in Sydney, NSW, Australia. This policy covers the information we handle through this website, including model uploads, instant quotes, checkout, and our support and contact forms.

2. Information we collect

A. Information you give us

• 3D models. The file you upload (STL, OBJ, GLB, GLTF, 3MF, STEP or STP, up to 50 MB) and the print options you choose. We store the file so we can measure it, quote it, and manufacture it if you order.
• Order details. Your name, email address, phone number, and shipping address, collected at checkout.
• Account details. If you create an account, your email address and any profile information you add.
• Messages. The content of anything you send us through the contact form or by email.

B. Information collected automatically

• An anonymous session identity. You can upload, quote, and build a cart without an account. To make that work we sign you in anonymously through Firebase Authentication, which issues a random user ID (UID) tied to no personal details. Your cart and uploads are stored against it. If you later create an account, that session data may be merged into your profile.
• Measurements derived from your file. Volume, bounding-box dimensions, and estimated material use, which we compute to price your job.
• Technical data. Standard log information such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, used to keep the site secure, apply rate limits, and diagnose faults.

We do not ask for, and would rather you did not send us, sensitive information as the Privacy Act defines it, such as health, biometric, or government identifier data.

3. How we use it

• To quote and manufacture. Analysing your model to price it, then printing, finishing, and shipping your order.
• To take payment. Authorising and capturing your card payment, and issuing refunds where they are due.
• To communicate. Sending order confirmations, production and shipping updates, and replying to your enquiries.
• To improve the service. Understanding which materials and options people choose, and where our quoting or printability checks fall short.
• To keep the service safe. Detecting fraud, abuse, and uploads that breach our Terms of Service.
• To meet our obligations. Tax, accounting, and consumer-law record keeping.

We do not sell your personal information or your 3D models, and we do not add you to marketing lists without your consent. We do not use your models to train machine-learning models, and we do not print, share, or reuse them for any purpose other than fulfilling your order.

4. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers who help us run the business, and only as far as each needs to do its job:

• Stripe for payment processing. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never reach our servers.
• Google Firebase for authentication, database, and file storage, on Google Cloud infrastructure.
• Vercel for website hosting and delivery. Vercel also provides our anonymous site statistics: which pages are visited and how quickly they load in real visitors' browsers. These measurements carry no cookies and no identifier, and we stop sending them if you decline cookies.
• Statsig for deciding which features and print methods are switched on for a visitor, and for measuring whether a change to the site improved anything. It receives the anonymous identifier described in section 6 (or, if you decline cookies, a shared identifier that is not tied to you), never your name or email.
• Resend for sending transactional email such as order confirmations.
• Shipping carriers, which receive your name, address, and contact number so your parcel can be delivered.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it. Some of these providers store data outside Australia; where that happens, it is through standard cloud infrastructure acting on our instructions.

5. How long we keep it

• Uploaded models. We keep your file while it is needed: to hold your quote, to manufacture your order, and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can reprint if something arrives damaged. We do not keep files longer than we need them, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time (see section 7).
• Order records. Details of the sale itself (excluding the model file) are kept for the period Australian tax and consumer law requires, generally five years.
• Everything else. Enquiries, support messages, and account details are kept only as long as we need them, then securely deleted or de-identified.

6. Cookies

We use a small number of first-party cookies. We run no advertising or marketing cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.

• insera_uid (functional and measurement, optional). A randomly generated identifier that lets us keep you on a consistent version of the site rather than having features appear and disappear between page loads, and lets us tell whether a change we made actually improved anything. It holds nothing but that random value, is readable only by our servers and not by JavaScript in your browser, and expires after 12 months. It is not linked to your name, email, or any order you place. This is the one you can decline (see below).
• insera_consent (necessary). Records your own answer to the cookie notice, so we can honour it and so you are not asked again. It holds only the word "accepted" or "declined" and expires after 12 months.
• insera_gate (necessary, non-production only). On our staging and preview deployments, this records that you entered the access password so you are not asked again. It never appears on the live site.
• Stripe. When you are handed to Stripe to pay, Stripe sets its own cookies on its own checkout page to process the payment and prevent fraud. Those are governed by Stripe's privacy policy.

Firebase Authentication also stores your anonymous session locally in your browser so your cart survives a refresh. Clearing your browser storage clears it and, because a guest cart is tied to that session, clears the cart with it. This is what makes guest checkout work at all, so it is not something you can switch off while still using the site.

Your choice

Until you answer, a cookie button sits in the bottom-left corner of every page; it opens our cookie notice, where you can accept or decline. Once you have answered, the button steps out of the way and does not come back. Declining takes effect immediately: we delete the insera_uid identifier from your browser and stop issuing you one, and Statsig receives a single shared identifier instead, one that is used by everyone who has declined and so tells us nothing about you. The practical effect is that we can no longer tell your visits apart. Nothing else about the site changes: quoting, uploads, your cart, and checkout all work exactly as before.

You can change your mind at any time: the Cookie Preferences link in the footer of every page re-opens the notice and shows you your current setting, whichever way you answered. We ask once. If you never answer, the notice simply stays out of your way.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information: encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for files stored in Google Cloud, validation of every uploaded file before it is processed, and administrative access restricted to accounts we provision. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you can ask us to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, ask us to delete it or your uploaded models, ask us to stop contacting you, or raise a privacy concern. Email info@inseralabs.com and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe. Some records, such as completed order details, we are required by law to keep even after a deletion request.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can refer the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our service and obligations evolve. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date above, and material changes will be highlighted on this page.
